BOOKS
I'm anxious to purchase this book, but then I had to question myself. Do people buy books anymore? Am I one of the last?
I don't have a kindle.
Should I get one?
There is something about a book that is your own though, non? I like to underline, to fold pages, to revisit the book again & again. If I don't truly love it, just enjoyed it, then I pass it on to a friend with like tastes. Waste of money? Waste of space? I just don't know. If you love kindle, let me know why. I'm open to less clutter! But to part with my books? My favorite books?
When JFK Jr. announced to the world that his mother had passed he described her leaving this world surrounded by the things and people she loved. He mentioned her books. It struck a chord with me. I understood it. I have carried some books with me in a purse much like a good luck charm, or a shot of courage. I have revisited passages in doctor's offices, funeral homes, and in the car before a job interview. My Grandmother's bible still smells like her perfume. It's such a treasure.
Emily Dickinson said, "there is no frigate like a book, To take us lands away..." Can we travel the same way with a kindle? Is the emotional bond the same?

Macra-mania
I have fallen in love with a dress.
DVF Spring 2010 Lookbook
I have always loved DVF. She is the epitome of style and a self-made woman who made such an impact on her industry. My favorite thing about her is that she nutures all of her creative friends: artists, designers, writers, and helps them to achieve their full potential. Like they said in Glee, "We already won because you were our teacher." Anyone lucky enough to have this icon offer guidance should listen up. She is a fashion treasure, mother of two, business tycoon, and a woman to admire.
"The inspiration for Ms. von Furstenberg's New York Fashion Week spring line came from the desert, her love of antiquity, and images like a phoenix rising. Ms. von Furstenberg visited Egypt and ancient parts of the world and similarly, her collection embodied that adventuring spirit. Her woman travels through time and temples, whether it be Greece, Italy, Mesopotamia or Africa, on an exploration of beauty around the world.
Spring and summer 2010 von Furstenberg fashion incorporated ethereal and romantic prints. Complicated layering was excessive at times, but like the iconic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, many of these looks were simply elegant. Lively and vital, the fashion show exuded imagery from great civilizations. Olympia, Rome, Cairo, Babylon, and Africa all lent their styles to an elegant world vision."

the lululemon manifesto
Not only do I love this company's products, I Love their manifesto & the fact that they even have a manifesto!!! LOL
the lululemon manifesto
•Drink FRESH water and as much water as you can. Water flushes unwanted toxins from your body and keeps your brain sharp.
•A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you be at peace with yourself, and offsets stress.
•Do one thing a day that scares you.
•Listen, listen, listen, and then ask strategic questions.
•Write down your short and long-term GOALS four times a year. Two personal, two business and two health goals for the next 1, 5 and 10 years. Goal setting triggers your subconscious computer.
•Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.
•Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.
•That which matters the most should never give way to that which matters the least.
•Stress is related to 99% of all illness.
•Jealousy works the opposite way you want it to.
•The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind. DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW!
•Friends are more important than money.
•Breathe deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life.
•Take various vitamins. You never know what small mineral can eliminate the bottleneck to everlasting health.
•Don’t trust that an old age pension will be sufficient.
•Visualize your eventual demise. It can have an amazing effect on how you live for the moment.
•The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.
•Live near the ocean and inhale the pure salt air that flows over the water, Vancouver will do nicely.
•Observe a plant before and after watering and relate these benefits to your body and brain.
•Practice yoga so you can remain active in physical sports as you age.
•Dance, sing, floss and travel.
•Children are the orgasm of life. Just like you did not know what an orgasm was before you had one, nature does not let you know how great children are until you have them.
•Successful people replace the words “wish”, “should” and “try” with “I will”.
•Creativity is maximized when you’re living in the moment.
•Nature wants us to be mediocre because we have a greater chance to survive and reproduce. Mediocre is as close to the bottom as it is to the top, and will give you a lousy life.
•lululemon athletica creates components for people to live longer, healthier and more fun lives. If we can produce products to keep people active and stress-free, we believe the world will become a much better place.
•Do not use cleaning chemicals on your kitchen counters. Someone will inevitably make a sandwich on your counter.
•SWEAT once a day to regenerate your skin.
•Communication is COMPLICATED. We are all raised in a different family with slightly different definitions of every word. An agreement is an agreement only if each party knows the conditions for satisfaction and a time is set for satisfaction to occur.
•What we do to the earth we do to ourselves.
•The pursuit of happiness is the source of all unhappiness.

Home Sweet Home
This book is a treasure. Everytime I'm doing a little redecorating I like to revisit it's lush pages. Nesting is one of my favorite pastimes and a great way to express creativity. Nothing makes me happier than fabric swatches and hanging new art on a wall. I adore my home. It is such a joy to look around and truly love your surroundings. Check out this book if you're looking for a bit of romantic inspiration.
"A house is made of walls and beams; a home is built with love and dreams.” Dream on friends! XO

Beauty Hype
First up is Sarah Jessica Parker's new fragrance NYC. It's been heralded as the IT fragrance for summer as the new S&TC movie is only 6 weeks away! SJP herself says, "it's a party in a bottle." I liked the sweet fruity floral fragrance and the packaging is not only pretty, but super potable and easy to toss in an over-stuffed purse. The deciding factor on making it my spring scent was when The Love of My Life said, "You smell great."
Nars multiple is a great product for Mom's on the go! Cheeks, lips & eyes. It is a great product to throw in my bag & spruce up in 59 seconds or less.
All and all I didn't NEED any of these products, but I sure had fun buying & using them. Very occasionally its fun to revel in the hype!!

What would Martha do?
I have to thank my Husband for indulging my over-the-top need for holiday expression. I come by it naturally. The women in my family do up each & every holiday with love & sparkle. To me those two words have almost become synonymous.
Wishing you blessings, bunnies, & beauty. Happy Easter. Happy Passover. Happy Spring.

MAD for Alice
On Saturday night on of my best friends & I ventured down the rabbit hole with Mr. Burton & Mr. Depp & Ms. Atwood. Colleen Atwood the film's costume designer. What a fashion-fest this movie was, even the animated characters were decked out by Ms. Atwood. There is a striped dress Alice wears as "Um" in the Red Queen's castle that I just LOVED. It was so Vivienne Westwood, almost a punk princess fairytale moment. So fun. The film is gorgeous & we did see it in 3D. (I kept forgetting & wanting to take the glasses off.)
You know this isn't a movie review though! See it with a friend. See it for THE CLOTHES!
