Music's Big Night

My favorite awards show is upon us: THE GRAMMYS! Anyone who knows me knows music is my obsession. The Twincesses even call my Mom Grammy. I am all about this awards show!

Album of the Year: Taylor Swift will win. She is America's sweetheart & I love her too. However, Lady Gaga should win. She takes risks & has the talent to back it up. Artists with vision, bravado & talent get two thumbs up from me.

Record of the Year:Kings of Leon will win. Taylor may steal it from them. The song that should win is not nominated. It is "Breakeven" by The Script. That is the best song anyone has written in a long time.

Best New Artist:MGMT is out there like Eddie & The Cruiser's "Season In Hell". It's what the future of music sounds like (it or not.) Keri Hilson will win. However, my second born daughter LOVES The Ting Tings & has been be-bopping in her highchair to them forever, so they get my vote.

Best Rock Album: If anyone other than U2 wins this I will just roll my eyes. "No Line On The Horizon" is amazing. Yes, "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" is a masterpiece. This is not the same album. It isn't as flawless, but they are not competing against themselves. This work of art is
unique & new, yet still true to who they are as a band. I could go on & on. Pulled my car over to the side of the road to listen to "Magnificent" the first time a Toronto radio station leaked it. Genius. It literally stopped me in my (SUV) tracks.

Best Alternative Album: Love them all. Brian Eno is a genius. Death Cab is one of the best bands of the past 10 years. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs lyrics are cool. Phoenix gets my vote though. I happened upon this band in 2002 in Paris. They amazed me. This new album is so fresh, so fun. I hope they win.

Best Rap Song: Going with the T.I./Timberlake collabo here. I don't think Justin has made a mistake yet. (Except dating Alyssa Milano. So D-list)
I cannot wait. I love the music & the fashion of The Grammys. Maybe I'll get to go next year!

2010 Golden Globes

Flawless. Jen Garner did no wrong. I disagree with people who said it didn't compliment her skin. It was an interesting change from the bold colors she often wears. The sparkle was awesome.

Reese is such a lady. Fresh & fun. Very sophisticated.

Marion Cotillard is lovely, but her hair is too severe & a lady shouldn't show her lingerie like that. It really cheapens the whole look.

Messy & boring. Yes, she works out. We know. She also needs a new stylist because that one note is getting so old.

I don't love the dress, but she is so pretty. I would like it better without the horizontal stripes. Simple would have been better. If it was solid black it would have worked.
A bit too prom dress for me

The neckline is too old for her.

Yes, she works out too. However, this dress looks like cheap lingerie on top. There are dresses that show off a fab figure that look more lux.

This dress would have been pretty but several people in the room with me asked if she had a "squirrel" on her shoulder. Enough said.
Too voluminous and a boring color on her. Also, she behaved badly when Chase Crawford stepped on it. For sure it would upset a girl, but you don't crow about it on television during your acceptance speech!
Diane Krueger doesn't usually make mistakes, but this LaCroix is too Edina Monsoon.

Robert Downey Jr. was very old-Hollywood, Errol Flynn. Chic & charming. He & Simon Baker were my favorite men of the night.

Toni Collette looked gorgeous. The gold dress gained the perfect accessory with the award she won.
Olivia Wilde is so pretty. The plunging neckline detracted from her beautiful face.
I liked the blush color of this dress with Emily Blunt's dark hair. It could have been styled better, perhaps more full & fun.
Red was a mistake.

What were your favorites? Hits & misses? It was so fun to watch.

Posh?

Nothing like a makeover to start the new year. Kate is coming out like a Posh Momma on the cover of People Magazine. Anything would have been an improvement over that hideous hairstyle she popularized. Can you believe anyone copied that?

Good for Kate for dusting herself off and starting over. Let's hope she can do it with grace & dignity with a focus on her kids. Then she will truly earn the moniker of "Posh Momma".

Gum Drops

Something this Momma loves right now:

Kate Spade jewelry!!!

Adding a little color blast to these dreary post-yuletide days. I got some fun Kate Spade baubbles for Christmas. J'adore.
