Taylor Swift can do no wrong in my book right now. She is so girlishly stylish. I love her fairytale aura. Right now with the holidays coming I'm loving all the sequins and sparkle I'm seeing in fashion. I still have some skirts and tank tops like this from the last sequin surge in 2006.

All THAT!
I am obsessed with old images of Marlo Thomas lately.
These boots & that perfect hair?

...and the coats
These boots & that perfect hair?
...and the coats
Marlo was "That Girl", a series that went off the air before I was born! The image stills, however, stand up over time. There is a vivacious energy to the clothes. I have a pink Marc Jacobs coat that is not that unlike the one above. There is optimism and fun in Marlo's styling. Besides, who doesn't want to be that girl ?

Macra-mania

I have fallen in love with a dress.
DVF Spring 2010 Lookbook
I have always loved DVF. She is the epitome of style and a self-made woman who made such an impact on her industry. My favorite thing about her is that she nutures all of her creative friends: artists, designers, writers, and helps them to achieve their full potential. Like they said in Glee, "We already won because you were our teacher." Anyone lucky enough to have this icon offer guidance should listen up. She is a fashion treasure, mother of two, business tycoon, and a woman to admire.
"The inspiration for Ms. von Furstenberg's New York Fashion Week spring line came from the desert, her love of antiquity, and images like a phoenix rising. Ms. von Furstenberg visited Egypt and ancient parts of the world and similarly, her collection embodied that adventuring spirit. Her woman travels through time and temples, whether it be Greece, Italy, Mesopotamia or Africa, on an exploration of beauty around the world.
Spring and summer 2010 von Furstenberg fashion incorporated ethereal and romantic prints. Complicated layering was excessive at times, but like the iconic Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress, many of these looks were simply elegant. Lively and vital, the fashion show exuded imagery from great civilizations. Olympia, Rome, Cairo, Babylon, and Africa all lent their styles to an elegant world vision."

Lounging

Been so busy living in my backyard! With a new playset & the Twincesses' pool, there has been precious little time to blog. However, when I put on the most comfy longing ensemb today I almost literally exclaimed out loud, "I have to tell my blog friends about Majamas!"
I got mine at the most amazing store when I was preggers. The darling sales girl said they were comfy and totally pretty, so even though I was a brand new Mom (nursing twins) I wouldn't feel unpretty if people dropped by to see us! (No one did.) But I still LOVE the lounging clothes I bought!! SO SOFT & they do look pretty, which I'm sure husband & my immediate fam appreciated:)
If you are a new mom, momma to be or have a new mommy in your tribe, get her some Majamas! She will love them long after nursing goes back from a verb to a profession.(Unless you include "nursing" a cocktail. I still use it in that sense. )
Happy Memorial Day weekend!

the lululemon manifesto

Not only do I love this company's products, I Love their manifesto & the fact that they even have a manifesto!!! LOL
the lululemon manifesto
•Drink FRESH water and as much water as you can. Water flushes unwanted toxins from your body and keeps your brain sharp.
•A daily hit of athletic-induced endorphins gives you the power to make better decisions, helps you be at peace with yourself, and offsets stress.
•Do one thing a day that scares you.
•Listen, listen, listen, and then ask strategic questions.
•Write down your short and long-term GOALS four times a year. Two personal, two business and two health goals for the next 1, 5 and 10 years. Goal setting triggers your subconscious computer.
•Life is full of setbacks. Success is determined by how you handle setbacks.
•Your outlook on life is a direct reflection of how much you like yourself.
•That which matters the most should never give way to that which matters the least.
•Stress is related to 99% of all illness.
•Jealousy works the opposite way you want it to.
•The world is changing at such a rapid rate that waiting to implement changes will leave you 2 steps behind. DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW, DO IT NOW!
•Friends are more important than money.
•Breathe deeply and appreciate the moment. Living in the moment could be the meaning of life.
•Take various vitamins. You never know what small mineral can eliminate the bottleneck to everlasting health.
•Don’t trust that an old age pension will be sufficient.
•Visualize your eventual demise. It can have an amazing effect on how you live for the moment.
•The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Choose a positive thought.
•Live near the ocean and inhale the pure salt air that flows over the water, Vancouver will do nicely.
•Observe a plant before and after watering and relate these benefits to your body and brain.
•Practice yoga so you can remain active in physical sports as you age.
•Dance, sing, floss and travel.
•Children are the orgasm of life. Just like you did not know what an orgasm was before you had one, nature does not let you know how great children are until you have them.
•Successful people replace the words “wish”, “should” and “try” with “I will”.
•Creativity is maximized when you’re living in the moment.
•Nature wants us to be mediocre because we have a greater chance to survive and reproduce. Mediocre is as close to the bottom as it is to the top, and will give you a lousy life.
•lululemon athletica creates components for people to live longer, healthier and more fun lives. If we can produce products to keep people active and stress-free, we believe the world will become a much better place.
•Do not use cleaning chemicals on your kitchen counters. Someone will inevitably make a sandwich on your counter.
•SWEAT once a day to regenerate your skin.
•Communication is COMPLICATED. We are all raised in a different family with slightly different definitions of every word. An agreement is an agreement only if each party knows the conditions for satisfaction and a time is set for satisfaction to occur.
•What we do to the earth we do to ourselves.
•The pursuit of happiness is the source of all unhappiness.

Dress-up

All the lovely ladies wear Lilly! Those are my Twincesses in their Kelsea dresses. The rest are from the web sites new additions. The styling is just perfect in these pics. I love it. I have some events this summer. I'm debating ensembles. I love these dresses. I only wish Lilly made them a smidge longer(or added just a lil extra for alterations). I usually have to go to my seamstress and have ANY extra let down. Being the Mommy of 2 toddlers means bending over in the craziest of situations & one wants to feel "covered". What are your favorite dresses for summer?Thursday, April 8, 2010
April showers...

Bummed out by the April showers? Don't be!! It's the PERFECT excuse to delight in some amazing rain gear & accessories from KIDORABLE. This will have you hoping the skies open up & that there will be puddles for your kids to splash in. (The Twincesses have Fairies & Kitty cats.) See the site for all their creative ideas.

Color Spree
It is usually still quite chilly round these parts by the time Easter rolls around. I learned my lesson well as a little girl freezing in short sleeves & a bonnet! I decided on the Lainey dress for the girls for Easter. It looks cozy & comfy & they will be comfortable if the mercury doesn't rise as high as we hope.
The Adelene is my back-up purchase. They can wear this for late spring /summer events if it is too cold to wear them for Easter.
Isn't the Odile ideal? I don't need an event to dress them in this. We can cruise anywhere with this: comfy & cute.
Mommy cannot resist matching!!I noticed that the bulk of my Lilly purchases are made during the months of February & March! I think when you live in a cold weather climate you are sort of purchasing sunny day for the future when you plan your Lilly outfits in advance.
Maybe I have "seasonal color deprivation"? If there isn't such a thing then it must be invented to explain my sprees. Although, I love Lilly 12 months a year, so there goes that excuse!
I said to my Husband when we were in Monaco together that the color there was like someone had reached into my psyche and pulled out my dream palatte. The buildings were sherbet colors and the water a windex blue. It all filled my eyes like a breath of fresh air fills the lungs. Color feeds the soul. Please feel free to use this theory to justify your next Lilly spree! LOL

2010 Golden Globes
Flawless. Jen Garner did no wrong. I disagree with people who said it didn't compliment her skin. It was an interesting change from the bold colors she often wears. The sparkle was awesome.
Reese is such a lady. Fresh & fun. Very sophisticated.
Marion Cotillard is lovely, but her hair is too severe & a lady shouldn't show her lingerie like that. It really cheapens the whole look.
Messy & boring. Yes, she works out. We know. She also needs a new stylist because that one note is getting so old.
I don't love the dress, but she is so pretty. I would like it better without the horizontal stripes. Simple would have been better. If it was solid black it would have worked.
A bit too prom dress for me
The neckline is too old for her.
Yes, she works out too. However, this dress looks like cheap lingerie on top. There are dresses that show off a fab figure that look more lux.
This dress would have been pretty but several people in the room with me asked if she had a "squirrel" on her shoulder. Enough said.
Too voluminous and a boring color on her. Also, she behaved badly when Chase Crawford stepped on it. For sure it would upset a girl, but you don't crow about it on television during your acceptance speech!
Diane Krueger doesn't usually make mistakes, but this LaCroix is too Edina Monsoon.
